How you make a difference

 

The Virtual Emergency Care Physician Assistant delivers acute care via telemedicine for incarcerated patients experiencing emergency complaints. The PA assesses conditions, recommends treatment, and coordinates care with facility staff and physician collaborators. They document encounters in the EMR and support HIPAA compliance, quality reviews, and administrative meetings. This role includes identifying patients for emergency transfers and providing support across services. The PA plays a key role in rapid response and psychiatric stability assessment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate acute complaints and deliver telehealth emergency care in line with protocols

  • Consult with physicians and escalate cases for offsite emergency transfer as needed

  • Assess psychiatric and medical stability during unscheduled visits

  • Document findings using the S.O.A.P. method and maintain HIPAA compliance

  • Support quality initiatives, administrative duties, and cross-service coverage



Qualifications & Requirements

 

EDUCATION

  • Completion of an accredited education program for PAs

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ Emergency Department experience working as a PA or completion of a one (1) year Emergency Medicine Fellowship required

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in EACH state of practice

  • Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
