How you make a difference

The Emergency Medicine Telehealth Physician is responsible for remotely assessing and providing emergent medical care to patients through telehealth, while collaborating with onsite medical staff for optimal patient outcomes. This position also handles on-call responsibilities as assigned and operates in a matrixed environment, reporting to both the Telehealth Director for administrative matters and the Medical VP for clinical matters. The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical judgment and communication skills for effective collaboration with medical staff and delivering quality care to patients. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assesses patients' physical and acute psychiatric health through telehealth and determines triage and treatment decisions in collaboration with onsite medical staff. 
  • Provides clinical oversight of assessment and reassessment, ongoing provision of care activities, and completion of all associated documentation by APPs. 
  • Provides on-call coverage for after-hours care of patients, treats medical problems including pharmacotherapy, makes referrals for tests and consultations, and follows up on results and recommendations. 
  • Provides education on the medical diagnoses to patients and onsite medical staff and collaborates with staff in other disciplines in an effective and professional manner. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of care and treatment needs of patients of different ages and provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each patient while complying with special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, and abuse reporting. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Medical doctorate (MD) from an accredited university.

Experience

  • Two (2) years post residency clinical experience in emergency medicine preferred. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed in the state of employment.
  • Must be willing to add licenses in states where services are requested.
  • Holding additional licenses is a benefit.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications.
  • Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine.
